MISSION CLEARANCE REQUEST FOR PEACEBUILDING

UNCLAS STATE 074376 SIPDIS E.O. 12958: N/A TAGS: PREL UNSC KPKO SUBJECT: MISSION CLEARANCE REQUEST FOR PEACEBUILDING CONSULTATIONS: TANAZ KHAMBATTA, NEIL LEVINE, MARK HANNAFIN, AND RACHEL LOCKE ¶1. Mission clearance is requested for State/IO/PSC Foreign Affairs Officer Tanaz Khambatta, as well as USAID/DCHA/CMM Director Neil Levine, Senior Conflict Advisor Mark Hannafin, and Conflict Advisor Rachel Locke. See specific requests below. ¶2. USAID/DCHA/CMM will be traveling to NY on July 20-21 for peacebuilding consultations. On July 20, USAID/DCHA/CMM will hold bilateral meetings with non-UN entities including the International Peace Institute and New York University's Center on International Cooperation. On July 21, USAID/DCHA/CMM will hold consultations on peacebuilding with USUN and appropriate UN representatives from the UN Development Program (UNDP),the Department of Peacekeeping Operations (DPKO),the Department of Political Affairs (DPA), the Peacebuilding Support Office (PBSO),and the UN Development Group (UNDG). State/IO/PSC officer will accompany USAID/DCHA/CMM in these meetings. ¶3. In addition, State/IO/PSC officer requests clearance to observe the July 22 UN Security Council open debate on post conflict peacebuilding. ¶4. POC for the trip is State/IO/PSC Tanaz Khambatta.
