The Department's Office of Defense Trade Controls Compliance (PM/DTCC) requests Post's assistance in conducting a pre-license check on license 050173447 for the export of rifles to Australia. Post is requested to complete this Blue Lantern check within 30 days. Lack of response to a Blue Lantern check will affect pending and future licenses involving parties to this license. ¶3. Reason for Request: This license is for 27 rifles which the end-user claims are for personal use. This check is to establish the bona fides of the end-user and verify that the firearms are not/not for resale. ¶4. Action Request: Post is requested to establish the bona fides of end-user by making inquiries to Miles Sandy and appropriate local authorities. Post should verify that the end-user's possession of 27 firearms is in accordance with Australian law. Post is also requested to determine if Miles Sandy has the capacity to securely store all 27 rifles. Finally, Post is requested to verify the end-use of these firearms and determine if Miles Sandy is familiar with the regulations governing the import of U.S.-origin defense articles, including restrictions on re-transfer or re-export. ¶5.
