1. Secretary Clinton and Romanian Foreign Minister
Cristian Diaconescu exchanged Instruments of Ratification
concerning the Extradition Treaty between the United
States of AMERICA and Romania, signed at Bucharest on
September 10, 2007. In accordance to Article 23(2) of the
Treaty, the Treaty shall enter into force upon the
exchange of the instruments of ratification. The
Extradition Treaty entered into force on Friday, May 8,

2009.


2. During the same ceremony Secretary Clinton and Foreign
Minister Diaconescu exchanged Instruments of Ratification
of the Protocol to the Treaty between the United States of
America and Romania on Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal
Matters signed in Washington on May 26, 1999, signed at
Bucharest on September 10, 2007. The Protocol will enter
into force on the date of entry into force of the Mutual
Legal Assistance Agreement between the United States of
America and the European Union.
