SUBJECT: 2009 AUTOMOTIVE TECHNICAL TRAINING IN
WASHINGTON DC AND CAIRO

1. Summary. The A/LM Motor Vehicle Branch (MV),in
collaboration with Diplomatic Security (DS/PSP/DEAV) and
Embassy Cairo, will host two Automotive Technical
Training Seminars this year. One seminar will be held
in Cairo on August 16-19th and the other will be held in
Springfield, VA on July 9-17th. The seminar in
Springfield will be a train-the-trainer, hands-on
workshop for vehicle maintenance supervisors, foremen,
and skilled mechanics, with considerable attention to
armored vehicles. The Cairo workshop is a truncated
version of Cairo?s MV-sponsored annual skill-enhancement
workshop for more junior mechanics. The deadline for
submitting training requests is June 25, 2009. End
Summary.

2. Training. The training is offered for auto
mechanics, mechanic foremen, chief mechanics and
workshop supervisors to enhance their technical skills.
Participants should have a strong technical or
engineering background and good working knowledge of
English. The classes are offered on a train-the-trainer
basis; we expect employees attending the classes to be
able to train others in their regions.

4. Funding. The training is free. However, posts must
fund all travel and per diem costs. For the Cairo
session, posts should add USD 60 per participant to
cover Cairo ICASS administrative supply costs. More
specific details on accommodations will be provided when
