1.(SBU) UNVIE has requested Department guidance on including
China in the upcoming Friends of Afghanistan meeting to be
hosted by the Permanent Mission of France on January 22. The
Afghan Ambassador has requested that China join the group.
The Department is supportive of extending an invitation to
China.
¶2. Department will send additional substantive guidance ahead
of the January 22 Friends meeting.
