¶1. (C) Post is requested to convey U.S. appreciation for
Australia's rapid response to U.S. concerns about the
recently released Marine Notice; Australia's quick action has
assuaged U.S. concerns. Please also convey the United
States' continued commitment to the agreement outlined in the
Frelick-McCarthy exchange of letters (Reftels C-F).
¶2. (C) U.S. officials agree on the value of a bilateral
interagency conference call to coordinate the choreography of
this issue (Refs A and B). Post is requested to ascertain
three or four possible windows during which Australian
officials could participate in such a call and forward such
information to OES/OPA Greg O'Brien and EAP/ANP Aleisha
Woodward.
