1. Please deliver the following reply from Secretary
Clinton to UK Foreign Secretary Miliband. There will be
no signed original.
2. BEGIN TEXT:
Dear Foreign Secretary:
Thank you for your October 16 letter regarding the
Hadley Centre's recently published global climate map.
The map vividly underscores the potentially devastating
impacts of climate change world-wide and the urgent need
for global action to cut emissions.
As you know, President Obama is committed to taking
aggressive action at home and to working with our
international partners to achieve a successful outcome
at the UN Climate Conference in Copenhagen. In this
regard, I thank your government for hosting the recent
meeting of the Major Economies Forum (MEF). Prime
Minister Brown's and your personal participation sent a
valuable signal of the importance of reaching a deal in
Copenhagen.
We look forward to continued close cooperation with your
government on climate change, particularly in the coming
weeks.
Sincerely yours,
Hillary Rodham Clinton
