Dear Mr. Minister:
I am pleased to hear of the vigorous efforts your
government has already engaged in as Chair of the
Community of Democracies. I congratulate you on the
ambitious set of tasks you have set for the group in
order to strengthen the organization and expand its
reach and effectiveness. The United States continues to
believe that the Community of Democracies will be most
successful through concrete projects and initiatives
supported by a broad coalition of its members.
Lithuania's plans for collaborative efforts on democracy
at the United Nations are most welcome. Please feel
free to contact the U.S. missions in Geneva and New York
directly for future initiatives. The State Department's
Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor (DRL) will
remain your chief contact for the Capital Contact Group.
Regarding your request, DRL also will forward relevant
individuals? contact information to the emails
indicated.
The United States looks forward to continuing its
partnership on this important endeavor.
