SUBJECT: KUDOS TO EMBASSY ISLAMABAD FOR ENERGY DIALOGUE
SUPPORT

Coordinator for International Energy Affairs David Goldwyn
would like to express his deep thanks to Ambassador Anne
Patterson and her team for their extraordinary work and
dedicated support during the preparations for and solid
engagement during our recent U.S.-Pakistan Energy Dialogue.
Pulling together the analyses, narratives and global insights
was something that only the Embassy could do given its wealth
of in-house expertise, and we greatly appreciate the long
hours that many staff spent in untangling the intricacies of
the power crisis and helping to chart a solid path forward.

We especially would like to thank Robbie Marks, our dedicated
Control Officer, for his hard work and late nights in
handling the myriad details that made this Dialogue a
success. Special thanks also to Joelle Bastien for her
advance work and for making sure that all of the critical
elements for the dialogue were perfect.

We would like to extend particular gratitude to Chato
Calderon for her analytical and expert support on electric
power sector issues and, particularly, for an extremely
useful and witty presentation on media/public relations that
was very well received by our GOP hosts. Last but not least,
we greatly appreciate Will Center's tenacious efforts to
ferret out possible energy sector investment opportunities
for U.S. companies and to promote the establishment of a
business climate in the energy sector that Pakistan
desperately needs.

We believe that this was the most constructive dialogue that
the USG has had with the GOP on energy issues in many years
and look forward to continuing the engagement as the current
reform process unfolds. Once again, many thanks for a job
well done.
CLINTON
