1. (SBU) In response to referenced Leahy vetting request,
the Department has reviewed its files and finds it possesses
no credible information of gross violations of human rights
at this time by the Jordanian officials listed below. Please
note that if at any time the EMBASSY becomes aware of
information regarding incidents which could be deemed to be
credible information of a gross violation of human rights by
these individuals, the EMBASSY should so inform the
Department.
2. (SBU) The following Jordanian officials listed in reftel
are scheduled to attend a U.S. Coast Guard-sponsored "Port
Physical Security/ Port Vulnerability" course, beginning
April 12, 2009 in Jordan. The names of the candidates follow
in "rank, name, city of birth (in Jordan),year of birth"
format:
1) LTCOL, Abed Alfattah Salem Suliman Alshorman, Al Mazar Al
Shamali, 02/27/1963
2) CAPT, Ahmad Mathhar Mohammad Al-Bataineh, Hakama,
03/01/1968
3) 2LT, Mahmoud Masa'd Odeh Saideen, Zarka, 01/03/1970
3. (U) Post is permitted to provide the following statement
to authorized parties: EMBASSY verifies that the Department
of State possesses no credible information of gross
violations of human rights by the individuals identified in
paragraph 2 above, as of this date. Post may cite this cable
in response.
