USUN is requested to send a letter to the Chair of the Security Council Committee established pursuant to resolution 1533 (2004) concerning the Democratic Republic of the Congo ("the DRC Sanctions Committee" - www.un.org/sc/committees/1533/index.shtml) with the information found in para 3 below in connection with United States' provision of technical data for radios on the United States Munitions List to the Government of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. -------------- STRATEGIC OBJECTIVE -------------- ¶2. The strategic objective is for the United States to comply with its UN obligation to notify the DRC Sanctions Committee in advance of any shipment of arms and related materiel for the DRC or any provision of assistance, advice or training related to military activities in the DRC. Advance arms embargo exemption requests to the DRC Sanctions Committee should contain all relevant information, including, where appropriate, the end-user, the proposed date of delivery and the itinerary of shipments (per operative paragraph 5 of UN Security Council resolution 1807 (2008)). -------------- LETTER -------------- ¶3. Consistent with paragraph 5 of resolution 1807 (2008),the United States notifies the Security Council Committee established pursuant to resolution 1533 (2004) concerning the Democratic Republic of the Congo of its intention to provide technical data for Clear Multiband Inter/Intra Team Radio (cMBITR),and associated vehicle adaptors, manportable systems, tactical repeaters, extended band man pack other accessories to the Government of the Democratic Republic of the Congo's Ministry of Defense and War Veteran Affairs.
