Polec officer, Dutch DCM, and Russian Counselor delivered
reftel invitation to Bulgarian MFA Petio Petev, Director of
the NATO and the International Security Directive. Mr. Petev
praised the Global Initiative to Combat Nuclear Terrorism
(CICNT),explaining that he led the Bulgarian delegation to
last year's meeting held in Spain. He stated that it was one
of the most impressive joint global initiatives in the past
decade, and praised both President Bush and PM Putin for
their work. Petev said that Bulgaria will send a delegation
to The Hague for this year's meeting, although it is too
early to name delegation members. Petev added that Bulgaria
has encouraged other "regional neighbors" (not giving
specific names) to join.
