1. (C) The Government of Bulgaria strongly supports the
points include in reftel and will continue to resist any move
to reduce the size or scope of KFOR. In a recent briefing in
Sofia, Foreign Minister Kalfin said that Kosovo continues to
require NATO's commitment and KFOR must preserve an adequate
force on the ground. The government remains very concerned
about stability in Kosovo and the rest of the Western Balkans
as Bulgaria would suffer severe economic consequences should
its transportation links through Serbia be disrupted. 47
Bulgarian troops, based in Prizrin, participate in KFOR.
