1. On February 6, we delivered ref A and ref B talking points to
Marko Spirovski of the Macedonia MFA Department for Collective
Security Systems. Spirovski thanked us for the information, and
asked whether USG funding was available to support Macedonia's
participation in the April 20-22 workshop in Garmisch, Germany.
Without funding, Macedonia would likely not attend. Spirovski
commented that Macedonia would seek to attend the June 2009 Fifth
Global Initiative Plenary, but could not commit at this time.
2. Post requests to be notified if USG support is available to
support Macedonian attendance at the April 20-22 workshop. Post
notes that while Macedonia is a valued partner in security, the GoM
is unlikely to bring significant expertise to this process.
