1. (SBU) MFA 2nd Permanent Secretary Bilahari Kauskian
confirmed to the Charge that Singapore had received President
Obama's invitation to the Global Security Summit and that
Singapore is still in the process of naming a "Sherpa" to
represent Singapore during Summit preparations.
2. (SBU) MFA Counter Proliferation Desk Officer Melissa Ong
told us Singapore has designated two working level points of
contact in the meantime: MFA Counter Proliferation Assistant
Director Sharon Seah Li-Lian, e-mail: sharon seah@mfa.gov.sg,
office: (65) 6379-8510; and MFA Counter Proliferation Desk
Officer Melissa Ong, e-mail: melissa ong@mfa.gov.sg, office:
(65) 6379-8530.
3. (SBU) MFA's Ong told Poloff that Singapore's
representative to the IAEA, MFA IO Deputy Director CHIN Siew
Fei attended the "Sherpa" meetings on the margins of the IAEA
General Conference in Vienna this week and that Singapore
intends to participate in future related meetings. Ong
promised to inform us as soon as Singapore designates an
official "Sherpa" for the Summit preparations.
