Singapore about the decision of the Government of Kyrgyzstan
to allow the United States to operate a transit center at
Manas International Airport in support of international
forces in Afghanistan to MFA Middle East, North Africa and
Central Asia Deputy Director Stephen Lim on July 13. Lim
noted that Singapore's plan to deploy UAVs to Afghanistan had
been pushed back until 2010, due in large part to the
uncertainty surrounding the continued use by ISAF forces of
the facilities at Manas Airbase. Lim said he would consult
with the Singapore Ministry of Defence to ascertain whether
Singapore might potentially deploy its UAVs sooner than 2010,
given the new agreement on Manas.
