(S) The GOS will review the information provided in reftel
demarche regarding the five Pakistani individuals that the
United States would like added to the UN Security Council
1267 Committee Sanctions list of individuals, Jacob Anthony
Chew, desk officer for the MFA International Organizations
Directorate, told Econoff January 16. He expressed
appreciation for the information but could not indicate
whether Singapore might consider cosponsoring the request.
Chew said that the GOS would likely wait for the U.S. request
to be accepted by the 1267 Committee before taking action
against any of the individuals named in reftel, but he
indicated that the GOS would inform us of any action it does
take. Post will report additional information as we receive
it from the GOS.
