Singapore will not commit to supporting the USG agricultural
development initiative at July's G8 Summit in L'Aquila, Italy. Mr.
Daryl Sng Tek Yean, Deputy Director of the International, Social,
and Development Issues Branch told Econoff, in response to reftel
points, that Singapore does not have a delegation attending the G8
summit and is not a regular participant in G8 activities. Therefore,
Singapore does not plan to commit any political, financial, or
technical support to the initiative.
