1. (U) This cable is sensitive but unclassified and not rpt

2. (SBU) Dep Econ Couns on April 27 spoke with Seo Sang-pyo,
Director of MOFAT's Economic Organization Division. Seo said
the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade would work with the
Ministry of Strategy and Finance to support the U.S. on the
issues raised in reftel demarche. Seo also suggested that a
direct approach to the Ministry of Strategy and Finance would
be advisable.
3. (SBU) Dep Econ Couns followed up on April 28 with Lee
Kang-ho, Director of MOSF's International Financial
Institutions Division. Lee was pleased to hear of U.S.
support for the capital increase and agreed that Korea would
support the measures that would help mobilize support in the
U.S. Congress.
