Poloffs delivered information in reftel A on February 6 to
Lee Jang-keun, Director of the Disarmament and
Nonproliferation Division within the Ministry of Foreign
Affairs and Trade (MOFAT). Lee stated that the Global
Initiative to Combat Nuclear Terrorism is very important to
the ROKG as evidenced in reftel B and C. While MOFAT is a
point of contact (POC) for GICNT issues, Rho Soo-ki of the
Nuclear Protection Division within the Ministry of Education,
Science and Technology is the person in charge and working
through GICNT issues on an operational basis. Therefore, Lee
would forward the information to Rho, who will notify the
USG's POCs regarding who from his division will attend the
workshop. Furthermore, Lee said that the Nuclear Protection
Division will be the lead agency for the April 2009 GICNT
Workshop that the ROKG is hosting (reftel C).
