¶1. (U) In response to reftel demarche requesting information
on attendees to the Friend of Democratic Pakistan summit on
September 24 in New York, MOFAT Deputy Director for Southwest
Asia Choi Hee-deok confirmed the following ROKG participants:
--Lee Myung-bak, President to the Republic of Korea and Head
of Delegation
--Yu Myung-hwan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade
--Kim Sung-hwan, Senior Secretary to the President for
Foreign Affairs and National Security
--Kim Jae-shin, Secretary to the President for Foreign
Affairs (Korean cell: 010-9270-7333, Email:
jskim80@mofat.go.kr)
--Choi, Jong-moon, MOFAT Director General for South Asia and
the Pacific (Korean cell: 010-4934-9234,
jmchoi83@mofat.go.kr).
¶2. (U) Mr. Choi informed us that President Lee plans to make
remarks. He also said there is a possibility that Kim
Jae-shin may not attend.
