(C) The Space Development Division of the Ministry of
Education, Science and Technology today provided the
following written responses to the questions in Ref A:
- Regarding the dimensions of the motor and second stage, "KM
(solid kick motor) has a dimension of 2.4 m in length and 1 m
in diameter. This includes the motor and nozzle. Second
stage has a dimension of 2 m in diameter."
- Regarding the impulse, "The specific impulse of 285 seconds
is a prediction data at vacuum condition based on the ground
test."
- Regarding the heritage of the second stage motor, "KM is an
absolutely new solid motor specifically designed for the
KSLV-1. It is neither a derivative of an existing motor nor
is it a previously developed motor being used for the KSLV-1
second stage application."
