1. (SBU) Post delivered points per reftel to Sanja
Kenig-Corovic, the Bosnian MFA's Head of Department for the
UN and Other International Organizations. Kenig-Corovic
advised that representatives from the European Commission,
Sweden, and the Czech Republic (representing current and
future EU Presidencies) had also recently demarched the
Bosnian MFA, similarly lobbying for support for extension of
the mandate for the Special Rapporteur for Sudan.
2. (SBU) Kenig-Corovic advised that, as FM Alkalaj and Deputy
FM Trisic-Babic were out of country until the end of the
week, the Bosnian MFA would be unable to provide a
substantive reply prior to June 5, but that the matter was
being considered and would be decided upon with consideration
for the EU and U.S. position of support for extension of the
mandate. Kenig-Corovic had no further substantive reply to
other points in reftel.
3. (SBU) Post will provide further Bosnian MFA response via
front-channel cable as it becomes available.
