ANTITRUST COOPERATION AGREEMENT WITH CHILE
REF: 09 STATE 90763
Reftel requested that Post approach Chilean antitrust agency and
enquire whether negotiating a bilateral antitrust cooperation
agreement remains a priority for Chile. Econ specialist contacted
Monica Salamanca, Chief of Institutional Relations (in charge of
the negotiations),from the Fiscalia Nacional Economica, on
September 3. Salamanca informed econ specialist that she had
already initiated contact with the Department of Justice (DOJ)
regarding the bilateral trust agreement. She also said she had
been in contact with the DOJ and Federal Trade Commission employees
who would be attending the Latin American Competition Forum
September 8 and 9. Post has tentatively scheduled a meeting with
Salamanca the week of September 21. Please advise if there are
additional questions you would like us to pursue at that time.
