1. (SBU) On December 1, Poloff met with Deputy Director of Foreign
Policy Nelson Amaya, Director of Middle East Affairs Milton MagaC1a,
and Director of Bilateral Relations Wendy Acevedo at the Ministry
of Foreign Affairs to discuss talking points and to provide
supplementary documents referenced in Ref A.
2. (SBU) Amaya said that El Salvador has voted in favor of these
resolutions in the past but that the new government may take a
different approach. Amaya said he would pass the matter to Deputy
Director General of Multilateral Affairs Ana Gloria Paredes and
Director of International Organizations Felix Ulloa, who will
inform us of their decision after they consult with their
superiors. We will report to Washington when we know the GOES
