1. (SBU) On October 23, MFA Director of Foreign Policy,
Joaquin Maza, delivered to PolOffs a note confirming that the
GOES will support the U.S. candidate to the UN International
Civil Service Commission (ICSC),Lucretia Myers, in the
upcoming ICSC elections (see reftel A). A translation of the
note is included in paragraph 3.
2. (SBU) PolOffs also discussed the Burma, Iran and North
Korea UNGA resolutions (reftel B) with Maza, who expressed
support for our stance against no-action motions on those
resolutions. Maza said he would discuss the issue with
Foreign Affairs Minister Hugo Martinez. We will report
septel the result of Maza's consultations with the FM.
