1. (C) We delivered reftel on February 27 to the MFA's head
of candidacies, Lilian Rodriguez. Rodriguez replied that the
MFA was reviewing candidates at that moment for the Appeals
Tribunal. She promised to pass Painter's bio and our
demarche on to decision makers in the Foreign Policy section.
She indicated that the GOCR had been taken off guard by the
short fuse on this one, with the vote scheduled for Monday.
Post will advise if/when we receive further response from the
MFA.
