(S) On February 7, MFA EMBASSY Affairs Director Abdulghani
al-Saeedi delivered to POL/E Chief the ROYG response to ref
A,B, C and D demarches. Saeedi told POL/E Chief, after
consultation with "the responsible authorities," that, as
Badr Airlines is a legitimately registered company, if the
United States wants Badr Airlines flights stopped it should
attempt to do so in Iran or at some point before they reach
Yemen. POL/E Chief reiterated ref A,B,C and D talking
points. Comment: Saeedi was not confrontational, but the
ROYG appears unwilling to support the USG on this issue. End
