On July 15, Poloff conveyed reftel demarche to Ambassador
Abdul Kareem al-Muhaqri, Chief of the MFA's Europe
Department. Muhaqri said that the ROYG was still studying
the issue, but that all indications suggested that it was
"tending in favor of recognizing Kosovo's independence."
Muhaqri also stated that Kosovo recognition would be taken up
by the Arab League -- although he did not know when that
would happen -- and that the ROYG would act in accordance
with the AL's decision on the matter.
