(C) Poloff delivered reftel points to Carlo Formosa, Office
Director for the Levant and Egypt. Formosa was aware of the
U.S. - Israeli antismuggling MOU but said the GOI had no
substantive comment to make at this time. Formosa said he
hoped the MOU could contribute to a lasting cease-fire and
would appreciate receiving additional information on this
issue as it develops.
