(C) Per reftel instructions, Charge on April 15 raised
subject demarche with Vittorio Grilli, Director General of
the Treasury, the number two official at the Ministry of
Economics and Finance. Grilli said the GOI fully supports
Kosovo's membership bid in both organizations, consistent
with the ITALIAN government's recognition of Kosovo as a
sovereign independent state. Italy will make its voice heard
through the written procedure described in reftel. Post will
follow up with appropriate officials in the Ministry of
Foreign Affairs to urge them to instruct their diplomats
abroad to lobby their respective host governments.
