1. (SBU) On September 11, Post delivered reftel points to
Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Director for EU External
Relations Minister Michele Esposito. Minister Esposito, who
deals with all GAERC-related issues, noted that there is no
item pertaining to Sri Lanka on the September 14-15 GAERC FM
meeting agenda and added that the agendas are finalized and
sent 10 days in advance .
2. (SBU) Post also delivered points regarding updating the
Partnership and Cooperation Agreement (PCA) between the EU
and Georgia, and those on increasing trade and investment
between the EU and Armenia and Azerbaijan under the Eastern
Partnership (EAP) initiative. Esposito commented that the
GAERC discussions on Georgia will include reinforcing the PCA
and establishing a mandate for concluding a Free Trade
Agreement with Georgia. Esposito stressed that Italy fully
supports increasing trade and investment with Armenia and
Azerbaijan under the EAP umbrella.
