¶1. (SBU) In response to our previous demarche requesting
Saudi support for Ms. Lucretia Myers
for election to the UN International Civil Service Commission
(reftels),post received the following request via diplomatic
note No. 97/25/107217, dated September 2.
¶2. (SBU) Begin text of request:
The MFA suggests an exchange of support between the KSA and
the USA. This means that the Kingdom supports the nomination
of Ms. Lucretia Myers for membership of the UN Civil Service
Commission in return for US support for the nomination of the
Saudi candidate, Ms. Aseel bint Sultan Al-Sheheel, for
membership of the Children's Rights Committee for the period
2011 - 2014.
We look forward to your approval of the above proposal and
your informing us of your decision.
