Pol/Econ Off delivered reftel demarche to Indulis Abelis, the
director of the Latvian MFA's European Department. Mr. Abelis said
that Latvia fully concurs with the U.S. position, and supports
setting a start date for the EU's formal accession negotiations with
Macedonia. He stated that Latvia hopes for a swift resolution of
the Macedonian name issue, and no further delay to Macedonia's
progress.
