(C) Polcouns delivered reftel points on November 11 to MFA
Political Director Peteris Ustubs. Ustubs understood our
position, and undertook to convey our points to the Foreign
Minister, who was visiting the United Arab Emirates. Ustubs
assured polcouns there were no immediate plans to sign a
bilateral air services agreement with Iran. While Air Baltic
remained interested in establishing Riga as a transit hub for
travel to/from Iran, Ustubs said no meetings with Iranian
officials would take place during the Minister's visit to the
UAE.
