A/S-level official responsible for the Middle East, on
January 12. Jansone stated that the French Presidency had
placed a high priority on the EU-Syria Association Agreement,
but with their term over, she was not sure that the item
would even make the agenda for the January 26-27 GAERC. She
said the MFA would review USG concerns on Syria, particularly
related to Lebanon and IAEA compliance, but could not provide
Latvia's position regarding the agreement at this time.
