Charge met with MFA Americas Desk Oriana Goncalves to request
that the Cape Verdean delegation be instructed to vote against
or at least abstain in the vote on defamation of religions, per
reftel. We stressed that the measure could limit the freedom of
speech protections in an attempt to protect religions.
Goncalves received the message but offered no substantive
response.
