Post requests the Department's assistance in vetting the following three HNP Officers of the Haitian National Police who have been nominated to participate in U.S.-funded training, pursuant to the Leahy Amendment and Foreign Assistance Act. ¶3. This training entitled Detention & International Human Rights Law is the 40th Study Session in International and Comparative Law of Human Rights organized by the International Institute of Human Rights in Strasbourg,France, July 6-31, 2009. NAS is coordinating the participation of these three officers with the Human Rights Office of the United Nations in Haiti. Therefore the vetting process must be completed before July 1. ¶4. No derogatory information on the below candidates was found after our internal vetting and following the Consular Section's INK process as of June 2, 2009. ¶5.
