To comply with the Leahy amendment relative to U.S. sponsored security assistance training, the U.S. Embassy Phnom Penh has conducted local human rights vetting for the following individuals selected for an Export Control and Related Border Security (EXBS) "U.S.-Cambodia Senior Policy Exchange" in Washington, D.C., May 18-21, 2009. NAME: Wimol PRUM DPOB: Sep. 12, 1959; Phnom Penh POSITION: Deputy Director DEPT/UNIT: Immigration Department of Cambodia; Ministry of Interior NAME: Chantha TAT DPOB: Mar. 2, 1967; Phnom Penh POSITION: Deputy Director DEPT/UNIT: Department of Policy and Planning; Ministry of National Defense NAME: Puthirith YENTIENG DPOB: Nov. 18, 1983; Phnom Penh POSITION: Deputy Director; DEPT/UNIT: Department of Administration and Finance; Ministry of National Defense ¶4. U.S. Embassy Phnom Penh has reviewed its files and finds that, as of this date, it possesses no credible information of gross violations of human rights by the above individuals. ¶5. The above individuals will attend an EXBS U.S.-Cambodia Senior Policy Exchange scheduled on May 18-21, in Washington D.C. This course will provide the participants with a familiarization of the U.S. export control system and to encourage Cambodia to establish a comprehensive export control system consistent with international standards. ¶6. Action request: Please verify whether the Department possesses any credible information that the individuals named above have been implicated in gross violations of human rights. ¶7.
