(C) On September 17, POLOFF delivered talking points, per
reftel, to French MFA Middle East DAS Jean-Baptiste Faivre
and then met him again on September 22 for an update. Faivre
said the Government of France (GOF) was in agreement with our
demarche and it was already taking similar actions to speak
with a wide variety of countries concerning Iran's nuclear
program. The GOF is planning various ministerial-level
meetings in the near future in Washington and New York on the
margins of UNGA to further discuss the issue of Iran. When
asked what meetings were currently scheduled, Faivre said the
GOF and European Union have an ongoing policy of introducing
the subject of the dangers of Iran's nuclear program to
interlocutors whenever appropriate, regardless of the forum.
