(S) Embassy Ottawa is unable to find any evidence to suggest
that Barakaat North America is in operation at the address
listed in reftel. Barakaat North America is not listed in
current open source phone books. The address listed in
reftel appears to be an apartment building and none of the
many phone listings for the address appear to have any
connection to Barakaat. A visual inspection of the building
gave no indication of any Barakaat presence. Econoff
requested information regarding Barakaat's presence in Canada
from Kate Burke, Department of Foreign Affairs and
International Trade, International Crime and Terrorism
Division, Senior Policy Advisor. Burke has not found any
further information.
