1. (C) POLOFF spoke with Assistant Director General Lars
Henie of the MFA UN section regarding reftel demarche, and
provided Henie with the included biographical information.
Henie said that he had forwarded the information to the
Norwegian UN mission in New York, and received a response
that they had not yet even begun to think about who to
support for the ICSC (UN International Civil Service
Commission) election that will occur in the fall. As such,
Norway does not yet have a position. POLOFF stressed that
the ICSC this election was important for the US and urged
Norway to consider Ms. Myers.
