(C) On September 15, Poloffs shared reftel points on Middle
East issues at the ongoing International Atomic Energy Agency
(IAEA) General Conference (GC) with Counselor Panayiotis
Papadopoulos in the Cyprus MFA's Multilateral Affairs
Department. Papadopoulos stated that the GOC "quite agrees"
with the need for consensus at the GC, but will ultimately
share the common position of the EU towards any possible
consensus resolution. Admitting that the circumstances for
this year's GC have been "a bit difficult," Papadopoulos
shared that he had worked in the past with the Conference
President and, based on this experience, is hopeful that she
will be able to bring forth a compromise solution.
