(C) On April 22, Poloff delivered Reftel diplomatic note to
Constantinos Christofides, Human Rights Desk Officer in the
Cypriot MFA's Office of Multilateral Affairs. Christofides
stated that the U.S. candidacy for the UN Human Rights
Council (UNHRC) has the full backing of the GoC as well as
the EU, which look forward to the U.S. becoming a "strong
ally" and "burden-sharer on tough issues" on the Council.
