--------------
H1N1 FLU OUTBREAK
--------------
1. "FLU'S TERROR" editorial in April 30 right-of-center
Gujarati daily GUJARAT SAMACHAR: "The World Health
Organization's warning on the rapidly spreading flu is an
indicator of the severity of this killer flu that has
left more that 149 dead in Mexico.... As far as India is
concerned, the government machinery is busy with
elections and doesn't seem to be alert enough to tackle
this crisis. The need of the hour is to raise awareness
and initiate special drives to combat this deadly
disease."
--------------
OBAMA's 100 DAYS OF PRESIDENCY
--------------
2. "OBAMA 100," editorial in April 30 independent Bengali
daily ANANDABAZAR PATRIKA: "It is too early yet to
discuss the effectiveness of President Obama's policies
but his vision is praiseworthy. The courage he has been
showing through different initiatives is laudable.
American conservatism in economic and foreign policies is
well known. Obama's achievements on these issues have
assumed a historic dimension in his first hundred days."
--------------
PAKISTAN/TERRORISM
--------------
3. "WHERE IS OSAMA?" editorial in April 29 nationalist
RASHTRIYA SAHARA Hindi daily: "Osama is an enigma, an
elusive being, the world's biggest mystery. Pakistan's
President Asif Zardari thinks he may be dead.... U.S.
intelligence agencies think he may be hiding in the
Chitral area of the Hindu Kush mountains in Pakistan, and
that is why the drone attacks have been intensified in
that area. It means the U.S. believes he is still alive.
American experts have certified Osama's voice in a tape
issued last month. But the man continues to fox America,
and the rest of the world!"
