1. (SBU) POLOFF on February 18 conveyed reftel points to MEA
Deputy Secretary of West Asia and North Africa Division,
Suhil Khan, informing the GOI of U.S. intention to make a
pledge of humanitarian assistance to the Palestinian
Authority at the Sharm al-Sheikh March 2 conference and
encouraging the GOI to also make a pledge of assistance at
the conference. On February 20, Khan told POLOFF the GOI
planned to attend the conference but was unable to clarify
what kind of a pledge India would make, if at all.
