PM'S VISIT TO THE U.S.
--------------
1. QONUS ON U.S. TO STRENGTHEN TIES, REASSURE INDIA,
editorial in November 24 centrist Hindi daily, DAINIK
BHASKAR: "Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's meeting with
President Barack Obama is neither path breaking, nor
ambitious in any respect. By anointing China the lord
of entire Asia, Obama not only indicated the drastic
fall of U.S. influence, but also undermined India's
capacity. The U.S. has vested interests China and
Pakistan, thus it is continues to provide aid to
Pakistan. Obama needs to reassure India and build our
trust. The U.S.-India partnership is imperative to
deal with three major problems-- terrorism, economic
crisis and climate change. It will be a shame if we
lose this opportunity to improve bilateral relations.
--------------
26/11 TERROR ATTACKS
--------------
2. QWHAT DO WE LEARN FROM THE 26/11 ATTACKS?Q editorial
in November 25 centrist Marathi daily, NAVSHAKTI:
QWhile modernization of our security systems is central
to the dismantling of the terror infrastructure in
Mumbai, that is not the only area needing urgent
attention. Technological advancements can be achieved
and executed in the anti-terror mechanism, but there is
greater need to curb the sources of sustenance of
terrorist networks, which are essentially being
nourished across the India-Pakistan border. Greater
international pressure needs to be exerted on the
insurgent forces which systematically wreak havoc in
India.
