1. "FOR A CONSENSUS," editorial in November 17 centrist
Hindi daily, DAINIK HINDUSTAN: "The Danish Prime
Minister Lars Rasmussen, who is leading the group
overseeing the UN climate conference in Copenhagen, and
leaders like President Barack Obama do not want binding
deals on emission cuts. President Obama and other world
leaders gathered at the APEC forum agreed on
Rasmussen's proposal which aims to strike a political
deal that will push a more comprehensive binding deal
down the road. The problem is that due to political
compulsions, neither the developed countries nor the
developing ones can afford to change their attitudes
immediately. There seems to be no hope for any accord
at Copenhagen."

2. "OBAMA'S FOREIGN POLICY ACCOUNTS FOR SMALLER
COUNTRIES LIKE MYANMAR," editorial in November 18
centrist Marathi daily, LOKMAT: "U.S. President Obama
is the first president to meet with the entire
Association of Southeast Asian Nations in Singapore,
including the military junta of Myanmar. It is said
that he personally demanded the country's leaders
release political prisoners, including opposition
leader Aung San Suu Kyi, and he urged the authorities
to ensure upcoming elections are free and fair. It is
rather welcome that the president has devoted his
energies to small countries with weak voices."
