INDIA-PAKISTAN
--------------
1. "MEANINGLESS OFFER, editorial in October 29 right-
of-center Hindi daily, DAINIK JAGRAN: QIndia is ready
to discuss all issues with Pakistan if it can
effectively control terrorism emanating from its soil,
PM Manmohan Singhsaid in Kashmir Thursday. Alas, the
PMQs offer is in vain! Neither does Pakistan want to
eliminate terrorism, nor does it want a peaceful
solution to the Kashmir-issue It cannot be ignored
that U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton also
emphasized the need for India-Pakistan talks. India
should tell the U.S. that it is impossible to talk with
a country that has virtually made terrorism its state
policy. India should fight Pakistan-sponsored terrorism
on its own and not expect U.S. cooperation for
resolving the Kashmir dispute.

PAKISTAN/TERRORISM
--------------
2. QPESHAWAR EXPLOSION: A SIGNAL TO HILLARY CLINTON,
editorial in October 31 centrist Marathi daily, SAKAAL:
QThe explosion at Peshawar, which has been PakistanQs
worst Taliban-engineered atrocity so far, is part of
the unrelenting wave of attacks on targets including
the army headquarters for more than three weeks. It is
no coincidence that it came hours after the US
secretary of state Hillary Clinton started her three-
day visit to Pakistan. The civilian attack signals a
clear-cut resolve on the part of the extremist elements
to take every opportunity to destabilize the already-
tattered and fractious administration in Pakistan. The
insurgent groups also want to tell Clinton about the
heavy price that the U.S. will have to pay in the war
against terror
3. QTERRORISM AND PAKISTAN,Q editorial in October 31
right-of-center Gujarati daily, GUJARAT SAMACHAR:
QTerrorists owing allegiance to Al Qaeda who were
thrown out of Afghanistan have got free ground in
Pakistan to continue their nefarious activities. The
truth is there for all to see that Pakistan has failed
completely in maintaining internal peace and security.
With one hand Pakistan gets aid from the U.S. and with
the other hand it allows terrorism to flourish in
Pakistan. But the most pathetic situation is that of
America whose PresidentQs effigies are burnt amidst
anti-U.S. sloganeering day in and day out there. This
is despite AMERICA giving huge amounts of aid to
Pakistan. All in all, Pakistan has been caught in the
cobweb of terrorism that it has nurtured over the
years.

AFGHANISTAN/PAKISTAN
--------------
4. QCONTINUED BLOODSHED,Q editorial in October 30
independent Kolkata Bengali ANANDABAZAR PATRIKA:
QCurrent U.S. efforts of combating the Taliban in
Waziristan are being interpreted as an American ploy of
curbing PakistanQs sovereignty. In Afghanistan too,
U.S. troops are facing the bloodiest situation. It is
hard to predict how long President Obama will be able
to resist requests of sending more troops to the
country. The Taliban will continue to unleash more
violence in its desperation to derail the electoral
process.
--------------
PALESTINE /ISRAEL
--------------
5. QREPORT OF AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL,Q editorial in
October 29 rightQof-center Urdu daily RASHTRIYA SAHARA:
QA recent Amnesty International report shows the
pitiable condition of the Palestinians, and their
oppression by Israel. This explicitly shows that the
so-called pressure from AMERICA and the international
community has failed to stop Israel. New hopes had
surfaced since Obama became the President of America.
But those hopes are dashed.
