"MANMOHAN-ZARDARI MEETING," editorial in June 18 Hindi daily, RASHTRIYA SAHARA: "The only outcome of the Singh-Zardari meeting in Yekaterinburg is the decision to have a meeting of the Indian and Pakistani foreign secretaries. In Yekaterinburg, Singh firmly told Zardari that his mandate was to convey that Pakistani soil should not be used for terrorist attacks against India. Singh is right. How can you talk peace when anti-India terrorist activities are being allowed on Pakistani soil?" ¶2. "BEHIND U.S. AID," editorial in June 18 Hindi daily, AMAR UJALA: "U.S. giving aid to Pakistan is not new. American politicians and government officials made an issue out of it during the election campaign, but post- elections it was all forgotten and they are now increasing the aid to Pakistan. The same Obama who was talking about a reassessment of aid to Pakistan has now tripled it! It seems the Pakistani army's mission against the Taliban won the U.S. over. It remains to be seen how sincere Pakistan's mission was. What is certain is that this increased aid will again be used for anti-India activities." ¶3. "A NOTICE TO PAKISTAN," editorial in June 19 centrist Marathi daily, PRAHAAR: "Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh adopted the right diplomatic stance by making it clear to Zardari that India will first assess Pakistan's commitment and seriousness in the much- touted strong action against Pakistan-based terrorist networks that have caused havoc in India. Pakistan should realize that it has to show the required proof of action against anti-India elements, and that it is not making empty claims." -------------- NORTH KOREA -------------- ¶4. "NORTH KOREA'S MISADVENTURE," op-ed in June 19 centrist Marathi daily, SAKAAL: "After every missile test conducted by the troublesome NORTH Korea, the world merely condemns its clandestine nuclear program. There are times when the U.S. expresses 'severe concern' over the NORTH Korean threat. Other countries then echo the same sentiment. The phraseology of condemnation changes, but the world continues to witness one test after another. The imposition of sanctions against NORTH KOREA has also not deterred the country.
